Ingredients:

  • 2 c all purpose flour
  • 1 pkt yeast [2 ¼ tsp] (rapid rise or regular)
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ¾ c warm water [heated for 45 sec. in microwave]

Method:

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the egg with a fork until fluffy. Add salt, flour, mix with fork and set aside.
  2. In a measuring cup take warm water, add sugar, mix to dissolve. Add yeast, stir lightly and let rise for a minute or two.
  3. Pour yeast mixture on to flour mixture and keep stirring with fork until a light dough forms. Knead. Let rise for 1 hour or more.
  4. Option 1: spread dough with rolling pin and put into rectangular greased pan. Bake at 450F [preheated] for 6 min. Broil for 10 sec. (optional). Remove and brush with butter. Cut into squares and serve warm.
  5. Option 2: separate dough into six balls. Roll each ball into flat oblongs and grill them on electric grill / flat pan till golden and fluffy. Spread butter and serve warm.

Makes 6. Double the recipe for a dozen.
